About the role: 

OMIC is looking for a creative and dynamic individual to take the lead on social media content creation in the lead-up to and during Capital Music Week, City Sounds Live, and other exciting initiatives.

Reports to: 

Director of Operations

The ideal candidate:

  • Is familiar with the issues and challenges of Ottawa’s music and arts communities;
  • Is conscientious and effective at community engagement, including proficiency in using various social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok);
  • Is familiar with using graphic design software such as Canva or similar;
  • Is adept at research and editing;
  • Demonstrates they are an excellent team player as well as can work well independently;
  • Has a positive outlook and is dedicated to getting the job done well;
  • Can express themselves fluently both verbally and in writing, in both English and French;

Responsibilities:

Supporting the programming and services of the office which could include:

  • Creating social media communications calendars and posts in both official languages
  • Posting and engaging with social media followers on all platforms
  • Cross-promoting music industry-related information and events
  • Assisting in writing and editing newsletters, where necessary
  • Create social media engagement discussion opportunities
  • Covering events in person, as directed by the team
  • Reaching out to members to create “Feature Friday” campaigns
