Session 1. Sustainable Venues Made Simple: Actionable Tools for Going Green

Sustainability is an exciting and expansive topic, but it can sometimes feel overwhelming, leaving you unsure of where to start. In this session, the team at GOAL (Green Operations and Advanced Leadership) will break down sustainability, explaining its relevance to music venues and offering actionable ideas you can implement.

Kristen Fulmer is a sustainability expert, focused on maximizing performance and promoting health and wellbeing within the built environment. Kristen leads Oak View Groups corporate sustainability strategy as well as OVG's Sustainability Service business, GOAL.

  • Emily Lindahl, Senior Manager Sustainability at GOAL & OVG

Emily Lindahl is the Senior Manager of Sustainability at Oak View Group and GOAL. She works with GOAL Members to develop and evolve their unique sustainability platforms, goals, and action plans. She also works with members to effectively communicate on sustainability and activate their work.

 

Session 2. Sustainable Festivals in Action: Lessons from Guelph’s Hillside Festival

Kate Johnston has over 20 years of experience in arts and culture management, and has been in the Executive Director role with Guelph's award-winning Hillside Festival since 2023.

 

Session 3. Empowering Sustainable Events In Canada: Resources for Your Live Music Event

This session will delve into the practical strategies and partnerships available to make your festival eco-friendly. From securing public and private resources to building meaningful sustainability sponsorships, The Sustainable Events Forum (TSEF) team will equip you with the tools to fund your initiatives with integrity and avoid greenwashing.

  • Natalie Lowe, Founder of The Sustainable Events Forum

Natalie is the recipient of numerous awards for her work in reducing the ecological impact of events of all sizes and types. She is in the Canadian Meetings & Events Hall of fame and is the founder of The Sustainable Events Forum. Her goal is to help as many people as possible to become knowledgeable and effective climate advocates.

  • Melissa Radu, Executive Director at Destination Stewardship

As Executive Director of Destination Stewardship, Melissa provides strategic leadership and visioning of their Tourism Master Plan, taking the 10-year strategy from paper to reality. This work is focused on destination growth and development with the goal of respecting, supporting, and improving the local and global environments.

  • Marie Zimmerman, Director of Projects and Partnerships at Regional Tourism Organization 4 (RTO4)

Marie Zimmerman is one of the founding members of the Guelph Fab 5, a collective of local arts festivals. She has a passion for the tourism industry as well as for sustainability, education, and arts and culture, which she brings to her new role as Director of Projects and Partnerships with Regional Tourism Organization 4 (RTO4). In 2024, she was honoured with a Woman of Distinction Award for her changemaking work.
